Dual Major: Chemical Engineer and Petroleum engineer - University of Pittsburgh
Co-op for two years at AMOCO in Louisiana, now part of BP. “Gave me a taste of corporate engineering”
Moved back to the Lehigh Valley area and started career in sales.
What was your first interaction in ASHRAE?
“Local businesses I called on got me involved, for the education”
What positions have you held locally, regionally, and nationally?
Local ASHRAE only, former Chapter President in 1990.
Was anything particularly difficult?
My missive as president was to get away from using a fax machine to send the newsletter, try to get to something better.
Filling monthly meetings was also difficult. We had a late cancellation and we ended up hiring a Dale Carnegie speaker that was very popular
Was anything particularly rewarding?
Supporting the officers actually doing the work
Is there anyone you particularly enjoyed working with?
The engineering companies in the area.
What was the most fun day or week you’ve had? Anything come to mind?
CRC in Inner Harbor Baltimore, around 1990
What was the biggest change?
The advent of computers and associated technology changing the business. Windows 95 was a huge change to the position.
Any interesting stories? Like weird? Different? And so on? Most ‘off the wall?’
No, really not.
What other interests do you have?
Outdoor man, always getting outdoor gadgets for fun..
What advice would you give a young person entering the HVAC field?
Embrace the technology to help differentiate yourself.
